Why You Need a Rock-Solid Financial and Estate Plan – Before It's Too Late

Picture this: your life changes in a heartbeat. It’s an ordinary day until suddenly, it’s not. Bad things can happen to anyone at any time.

Just the other day, on my drive home from work, I witnessed a scary scene. A guy on a motorcycle nearly missed a collision with a pickup when the pickup swerved to miss someone in a crosswalk.

It reminded me of the time I saw a man frantically pounding his fist on the hood of a car.  Although I could tell by his actions that he was very angry, I couldn’t hear what was going on until I rolled my window down.

He had just scooped a small boy off the ground, holding him close in his arms.

The driver, likely blinded by the harsh glare of the setting sun, had missed seeing the boy in the crosswalk and struck him with their car. These lives were turned upside down in an instant. Though it was an accident, the reality remained that life could go from normal one second to tragic in another. Luckily, this happened in some stop and go traffic.  I hate to think what would have happened if the driver was going anywhere near the speed limit.

Will the boy be okay? He seemed okay physically and wasn’t crying, but hopefully, he was checked out by a doctor.

As someone deeply rooted in financial planning, I see these sudden turns of fate as a stark reminder of why having a comprehensive plan is crucial. While no financial strategy can prevent a tragic event like an accident, it can certainly help mitigate the aftermath.

Imagine the chaos: dealing with medical bills, legal issues, and the emotional turmoil. A robust financial plan won’t erase the pain or guilt, but it can provide a safety net, turning potential financial devastation into something manageable. It's one less burden to carry when life has already become unbearably heavy.

When was the last time you reviewed your financial and estate plan? If it’s been a while, or if you haven’t started yet, don’t wait for a crisis to wake you up. A well-thought-out plan can protect you and your loved ones from unforeseen financial fallout.

Reach out to me today. Let’s ensure you’re prepared for whatever life throws your way. Because while we can't control the future, we can certainly prepare for it.
